Friday Photo – Golden Gate Park Blooms
It’s springtime in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and it seems like everything is suddenly coming alive and blooming at one time. One of my favorite areas is the John McLaren Memorial Rhododendron Dell – a very colorful area when everything is blooming and the day I visited recently was exactly like that. Surprisingly only a few people were there to enjoy this beautiful garden so I practically had the entire place to enjoy the amazing garden and take some beautiful pictures – take a look at what was blooming below.
In the entrance to the garden is a bronze statue of John McLaren, the former superintendent of the gardens and this was his favorite flower. The garden was established in 1950 and has been a labor of love to maintain due to extreme growing conditions and diseases that have effected these fragile plants. But recently, attention has been spent to update the gardens and plant new beds, and now it is beautiful again.
There are so many beautiful gardens in Golden Gate park to visit in San Francisco. Here are a few more that I have visited at various times of the year when the gardens are blooming, take a look.

If you do get to visit Golden Gate Park, go and visit this lovely garden. It will be waiting for you in full bloom if you get there in springtime. To find out more about the garden check out their website here.

Nice post. I used to be checking continuously this blog and I’m impressed!
Very helpful information specifically the final part 🙂 I maintain such info much.
I used to be looking for this particular info for a very long time.
Thanks and good luck.
Love San Francisco! Our trip there last year was awesome even though we didn’t have time to venture across to the Golden Gate Park. Our time was spent around the main downtown district and Pier 39 which was really cool. Spring is such a great time to be shooting nature shots! The flowers are just in bloom and really flourishing so kudos to you for capturing such awesome photos.
It’s the time of year here to start shooting flowers … which is what I was doing most of the day. But you have them all year round, lucky you 🙂
Great photos, Noel. I love this time of year when everything’s coming into bloom. Here in the UK, we have the bluebells out in in many woodlands, leaving a wonderful blue ‘carpet’… looks beautiful. 🙂
Really lovely as always Noel, and particularly fitting to my day as much of it was spent between the garden centre and bringing new trees and flowers to our land. 🙂
Beautiful photos, as always! My favorite is that first picture of those white flowers!
Lovely Noel!
I’m heading to San Fran is a few weeks! Hopefully the garden will look this beautiful still when I get there!
It should be, but all the other gardens in the park are pretty amazing right now Britany so check out the whole park!
Always love your photo Fridays, Noel! Love these blossom shots! You should get some from this part of the country. We have some pretty ones in Nashville!
