By rail, car, sea or air
I love to travel and discovering beautiful countries via rail, car, sea and by air offering distinct advantages and enjoyment from each mode of transportation. When you travel with each transport method you get a different way of viewing a particular place. Sometimes it may be very brief because of the speed of your transportation. Other times, you may get more time, flexibility and opportunity to capture something unique and inspiring from your observations and creativity.
I’m entering a photo contest called Travel Your Way, being sponsored by RhinoCarHire, showing your best photographs representing travel by rail, car, sea and air. Below are some of my favorite shots from using these different modes of transport in various places around the world. By rail is one of my favorite ways to travel. It’s so nice to be able to have the freedom of walking around the cabins, use the restrooms or even have an impromptu picnic. I love the compartments that let you open the windows low enough so you can actually take pictures without the glass. Above is a shot of Mt. Fuji while riding on the Shinkasen bullet train from Tokyo to Nagoya, Japan. Considering the dirty glass, the image still turned out okay don’t you think?

Traveling by car
Traveling by car is so flexible especially inaccessible areas that have little or sporadic public service to smaller towns or sites make it attractive to use a car to go to these remote or less accessible areas. I also love having the flexibility of taking more time and stopping anywhere you choose along the route, you get to choose where and when you want to stop and take more time or go when you have seen it all. Above is a shot of the tree tunnels along the Puna coastline in East Hawaii island.

By Sea
Travelling by sea is a nice way to see the landscape and coastline from the water. You can a different view from the ocean and understand the relationship from water to coastline into the interior areas. Above is an image taken from the island of Miyajima accessible by regular ferries services less that an hour ride outside of Hiroshima proper. Itsukushima Shrine is the main floating shrine that is accessible by walkways at high tide, the main floating tori gate is accessible at low tide which people flock to and take pictures while playing in the tides and enjoying the day.
San Francisco by air
By Air
Traveling by air brings you to so many far flung countries. I usually don’t try to take photographs in an airplane due the strange angles and small windows which make it difficult to take a photography. But having an opportunity to be up in a helicopter, I was able to take this magnificent shot of San Francisco.

I love these blogs hops and getting to “visit with” my blogger friends each week. Yourself included, Noel! I opened up this post and saw the pics and got a big smile on my face. These are some of my favorite pictures to date of your’s sir! I would like to say I have one favorite….but this set it’s impossible for me to choose just one. I Subscribed to your blog btw…because you have really amp’d up my motivation the past months since I got into this “community” to take photos like you do. I’ve been posting a lot of pics on my Facebook page with my new Canon T3i. I also bought a 60MM Macro lens. So, more and more pics will be of much higher quality! Hey Noel, thanks for the nod. Will look through my photos and see what I can come up with. I love train travel, have been thinking of taking the Amtrak to Toronto- it’s great to see the leaves turn the closer north you go.

Beautiful photos, as usual, Noel. I will look through mine and see what I can find. Thinking about it, I realize I enjoy all modes of travel, but especially ones where I can leave the driving to someone else while I sit back, look out the window and enjoy the view.

They all have their pros and cons – but I’ve probably had most adventures in a tuk tuk.
yes travel by tuk tuk is an eye opening experience especially in very crowded traffic conditions…yikes!
I traveled 4 24 years, therefore I am satisfied but it is true, plains 4 no pleasure soaks, I am now focus on moving 2 my own home back paradise home and not the nasty weather here in Canada with the pollution killing me, I want 2 be by the contains and lakes or ocean, what do you recommend? I am a citizen of this planet and money soon won’t be a problem 4 me because I am wiping out evil from earth, money and shit won’t exist anymore, trade of goods and services will be the new law 4 life.
