You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to get to this island just connected to the mainland by easy walking bridges. The island of Trogir is mostly pedestrian alleys and promenades which makes it easy to walk everywhere and not worry about traffic, noise and ugly cars in your photographs. This historic and scenic city is a must visit site that is a very easy drive or take public transportation from Split, the largest city in this region.
You will enjoy walking around the compact city, getting lost amid the historic churches, squares, Venetian to Hapsburg influenced architecture and the delicious Dalmation food you’ll discover at along the waterfront area or some fun places in town to check out.

Looking out from the top of the bell tower of St. Lawrence, the main cathedral of Trogir, you will see some stunning views of the Croatian coastline. Turn around to face another view point from the tower and you see the entire town spread out before you with other towers representing the 10 other churches located on this historic island.
It’s a relatively easy climb from the bell tower and not so stuffy compared to climbing most towers with fantastic open air views to the historic parts of town below.

The views are magnificent from above, and you can see so many interesting details from above including: the central square and city hall, the marina with the main fortress and city walls, various architecture from Gothic, medieval to Venetian styles. In a distance are the blue colors of the Adriatic ocean and some distant islands in the background. Closure you’ll notice all the architectural influences covering Venetian, gothic to baroque – all significant contributors to the electic and rich details encompassing this Unesco World Heritage site.

Going back down the tower into main cathedral hall – the interior is relatively simple but striking it it’s reserved gothic palate. It’s only when you walk around the interior and loggia that you notice all the beautiful details of this imposing cathedral in the center of town. At the entrance, the saints stand tall on Venetian lions guarding the entrance gates with intricately carved details.

Finally outside, you get a view of the ornate facade and the magnificent bell tower of St. Lawrence- it’s definitely worth climbing to see those spectacular and endless views of the Dalmatian coastline.

I love historical places, Trogir Croatia looks to be a place one could wander for days and just take it all in. I love the color of the water in the second photo, such a vibrant shade of blue, must have been the way the water was hitting it. Well-done Noel.

Those are indeed stunning views. I like all the red tiled rooftops and the beautiful, blue water. Croatia has come across my travel radar only recently. What you show looks like a good way to explore Old World Europe in a place that perhaps isn’t as overrun with tourists as other destinations.
