Historic Travel photo sites: town hall of Trieste, Italy
The massive town hall at the Piazza Unita d’Italia is quoted as the largest town square fronting the sea throughout Europe. Called the Palazzo del Municipio in Italian, the main structure is the town hall, an impressive structure constructed in 1872 to 1875 with a prominent central tower and an ornate main hall with two lateral wings. Evening time is a wonderful time frame to enjoy a walk around the square and view the town hall and surrounding buildings lit up like the photograph above. Walking through the historic center and pedestrian areas are a must in the center where many of the major monuments and tourist sites are easy to access within a small and confined area.
